WAKEFIELD — Genevieve “Jimi” Butler Lenehan, 96, of Wakefield, formerly of Malden, passed to her eternal rest on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at Bear Hill Nursing Center in Wakefield.

Jimi was born in Malden on April 29, 1923 to the late James H. Butler and Lillian Thorne Butler. She was a devoted sister to the late Eunice Strasser of Liberty, N.Y. and Pauline Noble of San Francisco, Calif.

Jimi was a loving mother to the late Albert James Musial and grandmother to Lois Ann Boquette of Porter Ranch, Calif.

Jimi attended the Malden Public Schools where she met, and would later marry the love of her life, William “Bill” L. Lenehan. They lived happily together for 47 years in their sweet home with their dogs Ludlow and Tugwell.

Jimi enjoyed her work as an Executive Secretary in the Aircraft Division of General Electric Co. until she retired in 1988, after 40 years. She was also a member of the Malden Elks Ladies Auxiliary Club. Among her most cherished memories are summers on Peaks Island in Casco Bay, Maine, where she spent time as a child, and her long drives with Bill along Route 27 through Boston’s North Shore.

Jimi charmed everyone she met. Her warm smile and friendly demeanor never failed to add to her long list of friends, but at home with Bill was where she was her happiest. After Bill’s passing Jimi kept her open door policy alive. She loved entertaining visitors and would often treat them to her delicious oatmeal raisin cookies with a hot cup of coffee or a cold glass of lemonade.

Jimi was also very loving and devoted to her many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. She cherished their company and they cherished hers. She will be missed greatly.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend an 11 a.m. funeral service on Saturday at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
