Avid knitter and member of St. Joseph Parish

WAKEFIELD — Jean Marie Palmerino, 89, of Wakefield died Sunday, June 9, 2019 at the Life Care Center of Merrimack Valley in Billerica.

Born in Beverly Farms on March 22, 1930 she was the daughter of the late Zopito and Celeste (Zardelli) Acciavatti.

Mrs. Palmerino was raised in Beverly Farms and was a graduate of Beverly High School. After getting married, she moved to Wakefield in 1960. She was an avid knitter and a member of St. Joseph Parish in Wakefield. Above all, she was a devoted homemaker and grandmother who loved spending time with her family.

She was the wife of Enrico “Henry” Palmerino. She was the loving mother of Mary Ann Matthews and her husband Edward of North Billerica, Nicholas Palmerino and wife Stefanie of Wakefield, and JoAnn Bourassa and her husband Stephen of Tewksbury. She was the sister of Anita Capaldi of Providence, R.I., Fred Acciavatti of Beverly, James Acciavatti of Beverly Farms, and the late Libby Bucci, Mario Acciavatti, Josephine Capaldi, and Evelyn Cellineri. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Collin and Danielle Matthews, Nicole, Tyler, and Gianna Palmerino, and Britney and Madison Bourassa; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-8 p.m.
