LYNNFIELD — Katherine “Kay” M. Buttiglieri, 80, of Lynnfield, formerly of Wakefield, died on Monday, March 16, 2020 at the Sunrise Senior Living in Lynnfield.

Born in Worcester on September 28, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Alice (Ferro) Papparelli.

A Wakefield resident for 49 years before moving to Lynnfield, Kay was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, Class of 1958. Kay retired from Marshalls as a human resources administrator. After her retirement she helped her daughter start and operate Gone to the Dogs in Wakefield. She was a member of St. Florence Church in Wakefield and the Wakefield Sons of Italy.

Kay was the wife of the late Philip P. Buttiglieri. She is survived by her two daughters, Gina M. Swansburg and her husband Donald of Middleton and Lisa A. Daly and her husband Graham of Lynnfield; her son, Philip P. Buttiglieri, Jr., and his wife Susan of Hamilton; her seven grandchildren, Donald IV, Kevin, Cori, Griffin, Mia, Elizabeth and Alexis; her two brothers, Robert Leger of Lynn and Richard Leger of South Carolina, and half-brothers Jeff Parell of Minnesota and Al Parell of Ohio. Mrs. Buttiglieri was predeceased by her sister, Nancy Call.

Blessed with a loving family and many friends, Kay also had friends who became family in her Wakefield neighborhood.

Kay was fortunate to have traveled to many countries which she loved to do. But her favorite activity was doing anything with her family. She particularly loved her grandchildren and looked forward to becoming a great-grandmother this summer.
