KENNEBUNK, Maine — Margaret Mary “Margo” Grady, 73, of Kennebunk, formerly of Wakefield, Mass, died peacefully Monday, March 11, 2019 at the Kennebunk Center for Rehabilitation following a period of failing health with her loving family at her side.

Margo, to all who knew her, was born April 11, 1945 in Winchester, Mass., the daughter of John Norton and Margaret Blake Kelley, and is a graduate of the former Our Lady of Nazareth Academy in Wakefield. She then attended Catherine Gibbs School in Boston.

Margo worked as a legal secretary for the law firm Siegel, Praeger & Wishnow for 15 years, became the U.S. distributor for Partridge Fish Hooks, and following her move to Maine, worked for five years at the Mainestay Inn in Kennebunkport.

She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Martha’s Church in Kennebunk, loved working on arts and crafts, especially painting rocks that had been tumbled at the beach, and caring for her many pets over the years, especially her dogs.

Margo, first and foremost, loved her family and did everything she could to show her love for them, especially her two granddaughters Emily and Lillian. Whether it was an overnight visit to nanny’s house, finding the best bargain possible or a trip to the beach to find that special rock for her next project, everything was with a focus on making a memory for her granddaughters.

Margo is predeceased by two sisters, Maureen Maloney and Eileen Mengotto.

Survivors include her loving husband of 50 years, William Grady of Kennebunk, her son Brendan Grady and his wife Tracy of Lunenburg, Mass., two granddaughters Emily M. and Lillian V. Grady, both of Lunenburg, two sisters Karen Kelly of Dennis, Mass. and Kathleen Lynch of Reading, Mass. and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 14 at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk, with a funeral Mass to be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 15 at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Martha’s Church, 30 Portland Rd., Kennebunk.
