Longtime Lynnfield resident

LYNNFIELD — Ruth M. “Ruthie” “GG” Rich, 95, formerly of Lynnfield, passed peacefully Tuesday morning July 31, 2018. She was the daughter of the late William and Delia (Gaouette) Cook. She was the beloved wife of the late George H. “Bud” Rich, Jr. She was the loving mother of Barbara Barnes, Thomas and Electa Rich, Edward and Susan Rich, and Kenneth and Donna Rich. She was proud grandmother of Laurie Maglio, Brian Rich, Nancy Houle, Jeremy Rich, Christopher Rich, Shannon Fox, Shawna Hopp, and the late Michael Barnes. She was also the adoring great-grandmother of Stephanie, Zachary, Cameron, Emma, Kayleigh and Mackenzie.

Ruthie was the sister of Edith Manninen, John W. Newbury his wife Rose and the late Dot Armstrong and Grace Ryer. She was also the sister- in-law of John Gaythwaite.

She was born in Peabody but moved to Lynnfield in 1942 after she was married, where she raised her family. She worked at the BB Chemical in Middleton, Danvers State Hospital and Anton’s Cleaners in Lynnfield Center for years. Her happiest days were spending time with her family and especially “booping” around as the four generations with her daughter Barbara, her granddaughter Laurie and her great-granddaughter Stephanie.

A graveside service will be held at the Willow Cemetery, Summer Street, Lynnfield on Friday, August 3 at 10 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield on Thursday, August 2, from 4-8 p.m.
