TAMWORTH, New Hampshire — Thomas J. Madden Jr., 85, of Tamworth, N.H., passed away on October 19, 2018 at home after a long battle with cancer.

Thomas was born in Cambridge, Mass. to Thomas J. Madden Sr. and Adelaide (Smith) Madden on April 27, 1933. Thomas graduated from Reading (Mass.) High School, Class of 1950. He was a graduate of Malden (Mass.) Business School. Thomas also attended Lee Institute and received his real estate license. Thomas was a veteran of the Korean War. Thomas also had the love of harness racing for many years.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Madden Sr., as well as his wife of 46 years, Ruth E. (Marshall) Madden. Thomas is survived by his five daughters, Cynthia Giguere of Tamworth, N.H., Debra Deschenes of North Conway, N.H., Jane Littlefield of Tewksbury, Mass., Heidi Madden of Wakefield, Mass., and Ruth Chaprales of Marstons Mills, Mass., and his two sons: Thomas J. Madden III of Andover, Mass., and Marc Madden of Andover, Mass.

Thomas is also survived by 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, his sister, Jane Sheehan and her husband, John Sheehan, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his brother, Richard Madden and his wife, Marlene Madden, of Tumwater, Washington; and his nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Thomas’ life will be held at a later date.
