VIRGINIA “GINNY” GALVIN, widow of General John R. Galvin, toured the Galvin Middle School, named for her late husband, for the first time on Thursday afternoon, May 17. In addition to a tour of the school, she and her daughter Beth Galvin visited the Boston area to attend the General John R. Galvin Lecture on Friday, May 18, presented by Admiral Dennis Blair at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. General Galvin was dean of the school from 1995-2000. He was also the Supreme Allied Commander of NATO at the most dramatic moment in history — the collapse of the Soviet Union and the end of the Cold War. With roots in Wakefield, he is remembered as a brilliant military strategist with a fondness for Yeats.
