WAKEFIELD—In Twi League action on Wednesday, the High Life took on the Expos at Moulton Field. The High Life were coming off a big 17-2 win over the Brewers last Friday, and were looking to get their record back over .500 with a win against the Expos.

Led by six solid innings on the hill from starting pitcher John Evangelista, the High Life cruised to an 11-3 win.

Evangelista didn’t allow a hit until the 4th inning, when the High Life had staked him to a 4-0 lead.

Still up 4-0 in the 5th, after the first two batters were quickly retired, Expos leadoff man John Grossi reached when first baseman Joe Stackhouse dropped a throw that would have ended the inning. After a walk, Steve Fiore ripped a 2-run triple to make it 4-2. Chris McNall followed with a single to make it 4-3.

Things were getting close for the High Life, but they would break it open in their half of the 6th inning. It started out with a base hit by Jason Federico. His line drive up the middle caught Expos pitcher Greg Jain on the knee, forcing him out of the game. Mark Andrick came in to relive Jain and ran into some trouble.

After striking out the first batter he faced, Andrick allowed a run with a hit batter and a pair of walks. Joe Stackhouse had an rbi single and Nick Dettorre reached on an error.

The big blow came when High Life leadoff hitter Danny Concessi smashed a pitched into the gap. With the bases loaded, Concessi touched them all, rounding third and easily scoring for a grand slam.

Nick Dettorre pitched a scoreless 7th inning for the High Life as they cruised to the 11-3 win.

The High Life now 4-3 on the year as they move on to the next game on Sunday, in a make-up of a rain out from Tuesday.
