NORTH READING — The Wakefield High golf team kept rolling on Monday at Thomson Country Club in North Reading as they defeated a 4-2 Burlington team by a score of 43-29.

Wakefield’s top three, senior captains Jack Ryan, Oliver Miller and Cal Tryder once again set the tone as each were victorious with a combined score of 21-6.

Ryan beat Burlington’s top golfer 6-3, Miller topped the Red Devils’ number two by a score of 6.5-2.5 and Tryder cruised in the number three spot, 8.5-0.5.

Senior Luke Hopkins earned a 4.5-4.5 split in the four spot. Senior Howie Melanson won 5.5-3.5 in the number six matchup.

Senior Charlie Shea finished up the scoring for Wakefield with a 5-4 victory in the eighth and final spot.

Wakefield’s all-senior lineup proved that they were ready for a challenge after the last few matches were largely spent providing opportunities for younger players to gain experience. The Warriors will likely be counting on this same senior lineup for the next couple of matches as they meet Burlington again on Friday, 3:15 p.m. at Billerica Country Club before two matches against 7-0 Melrose next week. Melrose handed Burlington two losses earlier in the season.
