WAKEFIELD — The Middlesex League’s boys’ soccer coaches recently voted on All-Stars for the 2020 season. Three Wakefield Warriors were named to the team: senior captain Logan Cosgrove, senior captain Eric Keefe and junior Michael Leary.

In addition to his second All-Star award of his high school career, Keefe was also named to the Eastern Massachusetts All-Star team along with 11 other players from the Middlesex League. Keefe played everywhere for the Warriors this season, controlling the pace of play in his typical midfielder spot while also spending some time in more of a defensive role, even playing as a center back.

LOGAN COSGROVE

Cosgrove earned his first All-Star nod, anchoring the Warrior defense as a center back. Cosgrove, who started his high school career as a forward, was shifted to defense where he played a key role in the last two seasons.

Leary earned his first All-Star award after a great season as a central midfielder.

Wakefield finished their abbreviated season with a 3-4 record. They had wins over Watertown, Burlington and Wilmington with losses to Watertown, Melrose and Stoneham twice.

MICHAEL LEARY

All 12 teams in the league had three All-Stars selected. Every All-Star was an upperclassmen as no freshmen or sophomores made the list. Leary was one of six juniors to make the 18-man Freedom team.
