Wakefield’s Aidan Sweeney was recently named to football preseason watch list.
Sweeney was one of 12 running backs from the class of 2022 named on the Excel Sports Academy of New England’s top high school/prep players in the region.
Also making the list were Jayden Clerveaux of Everett, Camryn Edward of Norwalk (CT), James Guy, Jr. of St. John’s Prep, Jason Hall of Durfee, Jon Marvan of Wellesley, Antone Moreis of Martha’s Vineyard, Anthony Oquendo of Fitchburg, Jackson Paradis of Tilton (NH), Jack Sharpe of Killingly (CT), Luke Thobahn of Milton Academy and Tyler Tortora of Saint Joseph’s (CT).
Sweeney rushed for 22 touchdowns during his sophomore season.
