WAKEFIELD — The West Side Social Club 4th of July Committee would like to thank the West Side House Crawl Committee (WSHCC) for once again coming through with an amazing donation to this year’s celebration.

The third annual “Jam for Uncle Sam” fundraiser was held on Saturday, May 19 at the West Side Social Club. The event was very well attended with many Wakefield residents in attendance. The evening featured a sneak preview of this year’s July Fourth Concert on the Common Band – The Buckley Brothers. They played a wide assortment of songs from all eras and kept the dance floor busy for the entire evening. The WSHCC also ran a few fundraisers throughout the evening, which proved to be beneficial allowing them to graciously donate all of the proceeds, which were several thousands of dollars, to the WSSC 4th of July Committee.

Three years ago, WSSC member, Chris DeFeo came up with an idea for an event to support the club’s efforts to July Fourth celebration for the town. He, along with 10 other people who call themselves the West Side House Crawl Committee, arranged several meetings and put together this wonderful event. And they are still at it today. The 11 members of the WSHCC consists of Vake Dhingra, Ben Schools, Moneesh Upmanya, Steve Boudreau, Brian Leishman, Rick Collins, Rob Carlino, Chris Clair, Brian Donegan, John Letchford and of course Chris DeFeo. Most of these committee members are members of the WSSC as well and they live in close proximity to each other

The WSHCC gained their name a few years back when they formed a group as a way to get the neighbors together. On a chosen date, members, along with their wives and children, travel house to house. At the last house along the route the families socialize for the rest of the evening.

Although the WSHCC has their own personal purpose to socialize, they undoubtedly play an instrumental role to assist the WSSC 4th of July Committee’s ongoing quest to cover the escalating costs associated with providing the day long events. And the WSSC 4th of July Committee could not be more thankful for their unselfish efforts to keep this new tradition going and for their incredible donation. At the same time, special thanks are in order for the people who purchased a ticket to attend. Without you, all of this would not happen.

The donation from this group has made them a “Diamond Sponsor” to the Fourth of July events. Their generosity will undoubtedly make a notable upgrade to the Fireworks Spectacular.
